PMU BROWS INFORMATION AND FAQS

PMU BROWS

How long does microblading/microshading last?

Since PMU pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade over time. The results can last anywhere between 1-2 years depending on skin type, lifestyle, age and frequency of touch-ups.

Your skincare routine will also have an effect on the longevity of the pigment. Patients who tan, use chemical peels or products with AHA or glycolic acid will fade faster as the skin will resurface faster.

CANDIDATE CONTRAINDICATIONS

Most of the below circumstances are in direct conflict with a successful and/or safe procedure, but confirmation of eligibility will be assessed on an individual basis:

  • Must not be pregnant or nursing

  • Diabetic

  • No viral infections or diseases

  • No epilepsy

  • No pacemakers, stents or valve replacements, or other heart conditions

  • No organ transplant recipients

  • No joint replacements or medical implants-most cosmetic implants are fine

  • Clients with keloid scarring may not be good candidates for microblading as it introduces trauma to the skin but microshading (machine work) should be fine. To be discussed in depth during evaluation

  • No skin irritations or psoriasis near the treatment areas, such as but not limited to rashes, sunburn, acne, injury, etc.

  • No current bacterial or viral infection illnesses such as colds, covid-19, flus, etc.

  • No Botox or other neuromodulators within the last month

  • No Accutane used within the last full year as it creates heightened sensitivity and inability to tolerate procedure

  • No fillers within less than 2 weeks prior to procedure-schedule accordingly and be sure to let us know date of recent filler

  • No antibiotic within the month of procedure as it may push out the pigment during healing process

  • No allergies to anesthetic (lidocaine) or epinephrine

WHY DO I NEED A 6 Week Touch up?

The touch up is when we perfect the end results...

Your touch up session is to perfect the procedure. With brows, dependent on the client skin, originally applied pigment may "warm" or "ash" out. The touch up allows us to correct how the color healed and potentially saturate the color more, if desired by the client. Think of this as  the opportunity to fine-tune the results and address issues, if any.

Some clients love their results after the first session, but we, the artists, do need to see you to professionally assess if we have given you our best quality of work.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY 6 WEEK FOLLOW-UP?

We will we book your 6 week follow up at the end of your appointment.

WHEN WILL I NEED ANOTHER FOLLOW UP AFTER THE 6 WEEK FOLLOW UP?

Your next follow up will be every 12-18 months. These appointments will be to color correct over time as the color fades and/or ashes or warms. You may book these as you see fit though we might send an annual reminder.

Be mindful that skincare and lifestyle will also factor into your result longevity. Sunscreen will be absolutely essential to the vitality of your brows!

After Your Procedure

Before Your Procedure

Before Your Procedure

Temporary side effects from Micropigmentation include but are not limited to: redness, swelling, puffiness, bruising, dry patches & tenderness. Though rare, infection is possible if aftercare is not handled correctly and cautiously. If you see signs of infection such as persistent increased redness, swelling, fever, drainage or oozing, contact your doctor immediately.

  • Stay out of the sun for 24 hours after your session.

  • Do not sleep on your side until brows have fully shed scabbing.

  • When the area starts to flake, do not pick, peel, or pull on the skin. Let it shed naturally.**Note: If you accidentally scratch or pick at your scabs, it will pull out your ink and will result in an empty spot of a couple of strokes missing.

  • Follow the immediate specified care instructions the evening of your procedure.

  • Avoid sweating for 7 days.

  • Must keep brows dry; no wetting, no exposure to humidity, no makeup while healing.

  • No makeup before scabbing as it introduces bacteria to the open wound and increases risk for infection.
